What we’re all about
The Scribe is a little arts community creating zines (small magazines) where we publish anything creative that can be put on paper: poetry, short fiction, art and photography. We also often include interviews and are always open to suggestions from new contributors. We produce four issues a year and it's a great opportunity for writers and artists to develop and display their work in print. We also run open-mic nights where all are invited to perform in an informal, friendly setting.
As a committee we meet once a week (time and date to be confirmed for 2019/20) and anyone is welcome to come along and join. It's not always a riveting experience, so if you're not interested in helping us run The Scribe but in writing or performing for us we recommend that you attend one of our Open Mic nights instead and get to know us that way.
We have Open Mic nights throughout the year, including launch nights for each issue of The Scribe and our annual 'Big Fat May Event.' Our open-mic nights are predominantly spoken word, music and poetry. Check out our Facebook page 'The Scribe Leeds' for further information.
You must be a member to submit anything to the Scribe. Membership is only £3.
