What we’re all about
We are a welcoming community of students trying to follow Jesus and build better relationships with each other and with our world. As well as hosting Taize services and theological reflections, we explore and campaign on social justice issues, host discussions and socials & encourage interfaith and community work. We welcome students of all denominations and are a LGBTQI affirming and inclusive group. We help people put their faith into practice in a friendly environment.
We meet every Monday during term-time at 6pm upstairs in the Emmanuel Centre Chaplaincy. We have Taize services every other week. On other weeks, we have discussions, films and workshops on lots of topics - from the End Hunger UK campaign to craft to prayer. We also attend events run by local churches, community groups and other faiths and attend national SCM conferences/retreats.
All are welcome - whether you want to just sit and be quiet during Taize, join in with discussion or get involved with community projects and leading events.
In the past, we've gone out for meals or to the pub, gone bowling and had film nights. We've also gone to national SCM conferences and weekends away, and visited Taize over summer 2017. We are always open to new ideas for socials!
It is free to join Leeds SCM but if you want to join the national SCM movement (you get magazines and lots of other benefits) it will cost you a pound. Feel free to come to our GIAG or another event before committing.
