Sexpression Leeds

What we’re all about

We are the Leeds branch of the national charity Sexpression.

As a society we are dedicated to delivering fun, interactive and informative sessions in secondary schools aimed at 11-18 year olds. Our lessons focus on anything ranging from sexual health, body image, LGBTQ+ and relationships in general.

As a volunteer you can teach a variety of topics including but not limited to contraception, sexually-transmitted infections, sexuality, consent, self-esteem and healthy relationships.

Absolutely any student is welcome to teach, no matter what your background or previous experience. If you're interested shoot us an email, message our Facebook page or attend one of our events to find out more!

Training

We will be organising special training sessions for new volunteers at the beginning of the 2019/2020 academic year. If you are interested in teaching in secondary schools you must complete the appropriate training on both days. You must also have a valid DBS certificate which can be obtained through the union - please highlight this when contacting us so we can assist you. If you have any questions about volunteer training please drop us an email.

Meetings

The committee holds regular meetings throughout the year. Anyone is welcome to attend these meetings if you wish.

Socials

Whether or not you want to teach, feel free to come along to one of our social events. We will be holding regular socials with at least one big social per term and smaller ones in-between! Join our Facebook group to hear about upcoming events.

Membership

Membership is only £5 for an entire academic year.

Upcoming Events

Our AGM to elect the 2019/2020 committee will be held on Friday 3rd May at 5pm, location TBC.

Being on the Sexpression committee is a great way to get more involved with the society and have a platform to develop your ideas for both teaching and on-campus events. The roles are all very different and so summaries will be posted on the Facebook event page to give you an idea of what each job entails.

The AGM is also a great way for us to get feedback on how the year has gone and to get new ideas for the upcoming year. We also encourage you to come and vote even if you are not interested in running for a role.

If you are interested in running, please prepare a short speech of why you want the role and what you can bring to it.  Also, please drop our President or Vice President a message about which committee roles you're interested in. Their info is also linked on the Facebook event
